Dell houses a lot of the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec Drivers. But one thing you must understand about these is that SigmaTel releases drivers on a per-manufacturer basis. Meaning Dell, Alienware, Gateway, HP, whoever you bought your PC off of has "control" over what driver (and version) you install, even down to the PC-model. You're supposed to go to said manufacturer (in my case, Dell) for "current" drivers.
The quotes are on purpose, as the correct audio drivers for my Inspiron E1505 are lacking quality when it comes to running Vista on it (crackles, stuttering). So I nabbed the newest version of the driver specifically made for newer versions of the Inspiron platform. Better performance and it works just the same.
If you're not looking for the manufacturer recommended audio drivers for your current hardware, proceed with a bit of caution when installing newer unapproved-drivers for hopeful improvements. It may or may not always work (it may even be worse)... don't fret though, worst that would happen is you'd have to uninstall it and reinstall the correct driver version with a few annoying reboots. Your machine will NOT blow up into a million pieces due to incompatible installed-drivers. Enjoy.
I posted a link to a search of Dell's Support Downloads for SigmaTel Audio drivers. Should be listed by date for easy picking of the current version. I went with version "v.6.10.0.5614, A09."
Hope this helps.

It would depend on the format of the audio file. However K-Lite codec pack should cover most of you bases. It is usually the only codec pack I install on a computer.
If you only have audio but no video, or video but no audio, you are most likely missing a codec required to play the file. You need to find out what codec the video was encoded with, then download and install that codec. You might also check if a newer version of Windows Media Player is available by checking the optional updates section of Windows Update.
DivX itself is a video codec and it uses AAC as audio codec.
You can find several video and audio codecs in the Combined Community Codec Pack, that you can find via google.
Computer magazines sometimes publish reviews for audio drivers, but searching Google for 'Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Reviews' or 'Realtek High Definition Audio Codec Reviews' will provide a number of websites where reviews for this specific driver can be found. One of the most respected sites is called CNet and a lot of people trust the reviews given by that site, but it would be sensible to compare reviews from other websites in order to obtain a balanced opinion.
One can download an AVI codec for free online. One can download the AVI codec for free on the Cnet website located under the 'download' section of the site.
You DO NOT NEED to download a codec to import a song into Windows Movie Maker. You simply have to convert the audio to a file name extension (format) compatible with the program:aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wmaFree audio/video converters are available online. Google: free audio converters and download one. Convert the audio to one of the file name extensions compatible with Windows Movie Maker.
A codec is a piece of software that translates or interprets digital data. You will need a codec to read data from a camera or DVD for example. Usually the codec comes with the device software or may be installed as standard software on your computer. If you do need to download a codec for your device you can download it from the manufacturer's website or a site such as CNET.
