I guess I am not alone in having accumulated a jar of coins and small notes from trips abroad. When I moved house I was going to put them on eBay but the idea of sorting, photographing and packing etc etc was all a bit too much especially as some of them were no longer legal currency.
Anyway, I found a firm on the net, sent them off in one secure envelope, they apparently repatriate them when they have about 1000kg.
They sent me an offer to buy them, even the little 1 cent US coins. Said yes and the money arrived in my bank account.
What?! Accept euro coins?? Who accept euro coins in the first place?

The name beside a harp on euro coins is ÉIRE. That is the Irish name for Ireland, and the coins with it on it are Euro coins from Ireland. They are accepted in any of the countries that use the Euro. Other countries would have different symbols and words on their Euro coins.
In general the 1 Euro coins have no additional collectible value; they trade based on the current exchange rate with the US dollar. Some countries' Euros may have a slight additional collectible value, depending on the design, but the availability of the coins and their recent introduction hasn't produced much of a collectible/resale market yet, except for complete sets, especially first-year sets, of all the coins. The special-issue 10 Euro coins are a different story, though. A few coin dealers and currency exchange services in the US will buy Euro coins, but because of the expense associated with shipping and storing coins they will pay somewhat less than the generally published exchange rates. Euro cash can be converted to pounds sterling at post offices and banks in England. There are also independent exchangers who will do this for a small fee.
