It all depends on what type of computer you have. If you have a Windows XP computer or Windows Vista Computer then Windows Movie Maker should already be on your computer.
In order to do this:

- Click on start and then look for the search option and click on it.
- In the box that says, "Search for files or folders named:" type in Windows Movie Maker.
- Click "Search Now" and wait as it searches for the desired file/folder.
- If you do in fact have Windows Movie Maker on your computer it will show up in the blank space on the right.
- And finally you should be able to click on the Icon that says Windows Movie Maker and it should open right up. If it doesn't then you probably haven't downloaded in. And in that case you just need to click on the Windows Movie Maker download icon and it will download from there.

If you have an older version of Windows then Windows Movie Maker will not be already on your computer. You will have to go to Google or what ever search engine you use and look for the correct download for your version of Windows.

Hope that this helps!

You can also find the Windows Movie Maker program (if it is installed) by opening the Command Prompt and typing in: MOVIEMK.exe. If your computer has the program installed, it will appear in the list.

Microsoft bundles the program with all Windows versions. Every Windows operating system comes equipped with Windows Movie Maker (with the exception of Windows 7). Even though Windows 7 does not have the program, it can be easily downloaded:

Windows Movie Maker v2.6:

Alternative Download: Windows Live Movie Maker:

If you are running Windows XP or Vista, you can find the Windows Movie Maker program by:

> Clicking on the Start orb, All Programsand the Windows Movie Maker icon

If the icon is not visible in the list generated:

> Click on the Start orb, and in theSearch bar above it, type in:MOVIEMK.exe
(The same method can be used with Command Prompt/Run Command)

The program (or folder containing the application) should appear.

Do you have to pay to download windows live movie maker?

No, Windows Movie Maker is a free download. But, the program already comes free with Windows operating systems. So unless your current Movie Maker is not working properly and you wish to download and reinstall the program again, you don't need to download it.By the way, if you own a Mac... you can't download Windows Movie Maker at all. Mac machines include iMovie software for video editing if I am not mistaken. (And I could be mistaken since I haven't used/owned a Mac for many, many moons now).

Is there a download for Windows Movie Maker where you can create muzzle flashes like gunshots and if so where could you download it?

Not that I know of (and I have all versions of Windows Movie Maker). In any case, the muzzle flash you are referring to sounds like an Effect to me. Try using a keyword search for: flash effects for windows movie maker. I am sure you will come up with several results to choose from.

Why does Windows Movie Maker close automatically?

When Windows closes a program because of compatibility issues, it is because some programs could damage Windows if you try to run them. If Windows notices that an incompatible program might harm your computer (for example, by damaging important system files), Windows will close the program. You might want to ensure your Windows Movie Maker is up-to-date with fixes/patches. This can be achieved by enabling Automatic Updates. If the program continues to close for unknown reasons, you should download and re-install the program again.Windows XP Movie Maker Download URL:http://www.nomboo.co.cc/2009/10/movie-maker-create-edit-and-share-your.htmlWindows Vista Movie Maker Download URL:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=D6BA5972-328E-4DF7-8F9D-068FC0F80CFC&displaylang=enWindows Live Movie Maker (Vista ONLY) URL:http://download.live.com/moviemaker

I downloaded the latest version of Windows Movie Maker for XP but it still won't work. As soon as I get on it - it kicks me off?

What version did you download? Xp users can only download v2.1. If you attempted to download v2.6 (or Windows Live Movie Maker), they won't work because those versions only support Windows Vista (and Windows 7).If you downloaded the correct version for your operating system and it is still not working, uninstall it and try this download. Many people have thanked me for directing them to this WMM v2.1 for Xp, because the download is 100% reliable.A good friend of mine had the same problem. She tried for days and days downloading v2.1 (from various sites) but still could not get the program to work. So, I advised her to try this site's Windows Movie Maker v2.1 download. To make a long story short... She is now a Happy Camper with a fully functional Windows Movie Maker v2.1.Now, what worked for her may not work for you... but it can't do any harm to try. Here's the URL to the download:http://www.nomboo.co.cc/2009/10/movie-maker-create-edit-and-share-your.html

Does avi go on to windows movie maker?

It depends. Generally, Windows Movie Maker supports avi. But if the avi is encoded with codec that don't supported by your system, there will be problem while importing to Windows Movie Maker. So the solution is to install a comprehensive codec pack. You could choose K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (free codec) Download here http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm You could also switch to more advanced movie making software: Wondershare Movie Story http://www.ourpix.com/downloads/dvd-slide-show.html?page=125 If you has a video converter on your system, convert avi to wmv before importing to Windows Movie Maker.

Why is it that when I publish my movie using Windows Movie Maker the published video works only for a while and then turns black?

There could be a number of reasons that is happening. But the most likely reason is that the video file is corrupt. I suggest downloading the file again from a different source. Try playing the newly downloaded file in its entirety to ensure it works. It is also possible that your Windows Movie Maker program may need to be updated. Make sure Automatic Updates are enabled on your system. This will ensure Windows products obtain updates, fixes, patches, etc, automatically. If you are still having difficulty with the Windows Movie Maker program, perhaps you might consider uninstalling and reinstalling the program again. I've included URLs to Windows Movie Maker Download sites below.
