You can download the manual for 385-81524, which is almost the identical machine except that it has one extra stitch feature from this site. It costs $5.99 and is 61 pages at Sew Consult (link below).

∙ 12y agoThis manual is available as a free download at managemylife.com. Click up on the top where is says manuals and then enter your serial number (385.19153690 ) in the box that opens up. Click on search and it will go to your manual.
P.S. To those who are looking for Kenmore manuals, you can find most of the 158 and 385 prefex manuals here. If you are looking for the earlier 148. prefex they only have a few. You would do better to check at sewusa.com or some of the other dealers who sell manual copies.

Does the Kenmore model 158.13410 sewing machine do straight stitching?
It probably does but I couldn't find an exact match for it on managemylife.com where you can get free copies of most kenmore manuals. I did find a manual for the Kenmore 153.13141 which shows the manual for the 1341 model kenmore. You might want to check and see if this is your machine or close to it. [I have this machine, and yes it does have a straight stitch. You simply set it to the zig zag stitch setting, and then set your stitch width to "0". It will then perform a straight stitch. -mmo)

First - it appears 2142 is a style not a model. The model number is on the front in a black and silver plate under the machine but in front when you lift it from cabinet. Get that number then go to Sewing Parts Online (linked below) and order it.
