What happened with Sasuke?
so far sasuke joins orochimaru to gain power to defeat his brother itachi and get vengence for his family... after a few episodes sasuke kills orochimaru (right before orochimaru is ready to take sasuke's body) and absorbs his power gaining orochimaru's jutsu's... Sasuke eventually tracks down itachi and kills him only to find out from a still alive and evil madara uchiha (an ancient ancestor that vows vengence on the hidden leaf village) that itachi was put up to killing the uchiha clan by danzo (leader of the Anbu Black Ops foundation) and other hidden leaf superiors. Itachi left Sasuke alive not for future fights but for the fact that he couldn't bear to kill his innocent little brother. He also learns Itachi planned to let sasuke kill him and in return took away orochimaru's curse mark and gave him more sharingun powers. Sasuke then vows to destroy the hidden leaf and is now on a mission to do so. But Madara has chained Sasuke to the Akatsuki through a promise to help sasuke destroy the leaf. Sasuke just has to catch the eight tails which he fails to do. So he is then told to kill danzo ( who became hokage) and succeeds.

The clan was plotting an attack against Konoha so they had to be eliminated. When Itachi killed them kept Sasuke alive cause he loved his brother, and even though his actions were cruel to Sasuke that night, he only wanted Sasuke to get revenge on him and kill him so he didn't have to live with killing his clan and hurting his brother anymore, and he only wanted Sasuke to kill him.
