It is possible to replace the air conditioner clutch without replacing the entire compressor if you can find somewhere that sells just the clutch assembly and can get the appropriate tool to remove the pulley to get to the clutch. Try buying a repair manual and looking in there.

the air conditioner on out 1991 dodge caravan quit working. we changed the fan and it worked fine then stopped, the compressor clutch isn't trying to kick in. we need to find where the fuse links are to see if that is the problem
The air conditioner adapter, on your 1993, 3.1 liter Chevy, can be located on the base of the air conditioner compressor. The adapter can be removed by removing the compressor.
It should. I've not seen a new compressor that didn't have a clutch but, you won't find out for sure by asking W.A. You need to take that up with the shop you're buying it from.
Usually between the compressor and the evaporator.
Don't you have air flow positioner set to the right end position (windshield)? If yes, change the air flow direction to e.g.: legs. Second thing might be broken electromagnetic air conditioner compressor clutch. Not sure if it can be stuck in latched position without connected voltage -> there might be voltage always connected. Find compressor / clutch and disconnect connector which supply clutch with electricity. BR, Miloslav.
You can find the air conditioning drain tube for your 1997 Pontiac Firebird on the bottom of the air conditioner compressor. The drain tube will be near the back of the air conditioner compressor.
You can find it on the same belt with the alternator next to the radiator.
You mean the air conditioning compressor? It can be done, but you'll need to find a belt which will work for that application... it's a bit of a crap shoot, and I suggest you find some F150 forums to find out which belt you can do this with and how to route it, although there really is no need to bypass it.. as long as you have the AC turned off, the compressor clutch won't engage, and the pulley will spin freely.
You can find the evaporator drain on the bottom of your air-conditioner compressor. The evaporator drain hose will go from the compressor to the bottom of the engine compartment.
