The lowest price I have found, in central California, is from AutoZone. Around $1400 plus a core charge which is refunded with a return of a core engine. This a long block engine. Just shop around and write a lot of notes as a lot of variables are out there. Some come with this and others do not; some have that but not this, etc....

In a 1998 Ford Windstar, the port to recharge the air conditioning system is located on the low-pressure side of the AC system. You can find it near the accumulator, which is typically mounted on the passenger side of the engine bay. The port is usually a smaller fitting, distinct from the high-pressure side, and is often covered with a plastic cap. Always ensure the engine is off and the AC system is not under pressure before attempting to recharge.
I was looking at the 1999 Ford Windstar Owner Guide engine compartment drawings , and it shows : When standing at the front of the vehicle looking into the engine compartment The 3.0 liter V6 engine has the engine oil fill cap on the right side of the engine valve cover , near the battery The 3.8 has it on the left side near the alternator

Yes The 8th " character " of the VIN indicates the engine size I ASSUME it would be the same on a 2000 Ford Windstar that " U " indicates the 3.0 liter " Vulcan " V6 engine I'm not sure what the letter is for the 3.8
The engine number for a 1999 Ford Windstar is typically located on the engine block itself, often near the front or side of the engine. You can usually find it on a flat surface or a machined pad on the block. Additionally, it may be stamped or printed on a label. For precise location, consulting the vehicle's service manual can provide specific details.
