There is a plate on the port side of the motor leg behind the transom clamp that has the model number. It usually starts with a V for the Voyager brand. These motors are made by the same company that makes Champions, Majestics, and SeaFliers. I would start by going to the AOMCI (antique outboard motor club) site.
This is a sears ted Williams 5.5 hp outboard motor manufactured by Eska in 1972. It has a Tecumseh motor and is air cooled. You can find more info online
That particular model was made in 1975. Put the model number in on google and you will find all the info you need on that motor
Depending on the motor you can use Max Rules. They have a pretty good database for years and hp info.
The Eska Outboard motor was manufactured from 1961 - 1987 in Dubuque,Iowa. I posted a link with more info.
1st you would need to tell more info about the vehicles engine, ie... 4cyl, V6, ect...

Many early model, smaller hp Mariner outboards were manufactured by both Yamaha and Tohatsu. These models were of different design than the late model engines. This may be the problem.
