Your serial number was assigned to a block of serial numbers which ranged from 3,250,020-3,651,519.These serial numbers were given to Saginaw Gear(Saginaw by the U.S.gov. for production from May-1943 thru Feb.-1944.I hope that you find this info helpful.
Call Colt and they should be able to give you some basic info on the serial numbers and such but any additional info will cost about $75
SN's were not required until 1968

The QUAU H.M.C. on the gun stands for Quality Hardware Manufacturing Company which was one of the companies producing M1 carbines. Quality Hardware made about 360,000 carbines for the US Army during World War 2 times. The serial number of the gun would date its production to a period of time between September 1943 and May 1944. This info was taken from J.C. Harrison's "Collecting The M1 Carbine III" which has a list of carbine manufacturers and serial numbers by date.
yes
it depends on the size of the system, this info is usually on the name tag, where you'll also find model and serial numbers.
i called winchester about my mod. 70 carbine short action 308, serial #1695xxx,and they told me mine was made in 1983. i asked for other info on the rifle, and they said that there were no records available for that year. 1981 thru 1983 was owned by winchester employees i think.
All the serial lists I have on the 12ga Sterlingworth have the numbers starting at 53800 in 1910. Can you verify that number? sales@countrygunsmith.net

No published sn data.
In most cases, if you give me only a serial number, and no info on make, model, caliber, then no. A serial number is not unque, or it would be 20 numbers long.
