There has never been a Pope Paul XXIII. There has been a Pope John XXIII.
Perhaps you refer to the popes of the same name - there have been two pope John Pauls. As of now, neither has been canonized a saint. By far Pope John Paul II was the more popular, though this is because John Paul I died within weeks of becoming pope. There are many Catholics that consider John Paul II a saint and are hoping for his eventual canonization, however, there are other Catholics that find John Paul's theology too progressive and even accuse it of having shards of material heresy throughout it. The ultimate test of whether John Paul II will be received as worthy of canonization is how the Vatican II council and its spirit settles in the decades ahead since John Paul II was very much a proponent of it and its teachings which, as of yet, are still struggling to settle in the Church.
There have been several biographies written on John Paul II. A biography on John Paul I may be hard to find since he was Pope for such a short time.
