I discovered that you can sign up for a 1 year subscription to an official Mercedes Benz service site called EPC NET (http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/) which allows you to feed in your VIN number and get wiring diagrams, exploded views, parts lists, etc. on your car. It's not a shop manual but it clarified a lot of "how's this put together" questions on my '78 450SLC and may help anyone else trying to fix an MB.
