If i remember correctly its inside the C channel to the chasis... right underneath the drivers door you will see the frame to the truck and inside the C part of the frame will be the fuel filter. its a metal can that is like 3 inches big about 2 inches wide and has two hoses going into it. one on each side.
Since I own a Ranger 2003 Edge with a 4.0 the fuel filter is in the C channel . And is held in by a metal spring clip. has 2 lines in the aft end and only 1 line on the forward end.the lines are (2) 5/16 AND (1) 3/8 . Again I recommend taking to a garage or dealership . The special tool you need is alot smaller the the auto store sells.
