I've read that the 98 does not have one but turns off by themselves after 2 minutes or so. Going to test it out on my 99.
There are numerous warning lights for a Mazda RX8. Some of the warning lights are for engine oil, charging system, ABS, and check engine.
The beeping is a warning that the lights are on, so the answer is turn the lights off.
Take it to the Mazda dealership they can hook up a scantool and disable it.
All the warning lights are supposed to turn on for a few seconds as a "bulb check" when turning the key to start the car. Do the lights stay on after the car has started? If so, you could have anything from a faulty ground to a damaged computer.
