Driver's side of the block
where can you find the engine number on a 2009 bmwx6 35i
in the engine
On the Intake side of the engine machine area Just above the Pan/Sump rail, behind the engine mount Bracket, the bottom number is engine Number, top number starts with engine type ie 20 or 25 or 27 for b20 b25 or b27
On the hinge/arm that holds the bonnet up. there is a series of numbers or there is a number along the width under the bonnet near the windscreen.
BMW has a service for this, but they charge $90. At least they give you a "birth certificate" for that bike. Also, if you have the serial number of the engine, there are charts to look up the year but there's a bit of guesswork to it.
There is no BMW V6 engine.

The engine number is stamped into a flat metal area where the block meets the oil pan, just forward of the dipstick.
