A few years ago I found a white peacock sitting happily in an apple tree in an orchard near my home. It had escaped from the nearby bird park near Canterbury in Kent, England - the park people did not want it back, although it must have been a valuable and rare bird. I guess the foxes got it eventually. The bird park is surrounded by tall fences, but peacocks can fly quite well over very short distances and several other (ordinary) peacocks have escaped over the years.
