If you haven't purchased a new digital camera in a while and are about to embark on a road trip, it might be time to invest in some new technology to help you capture those special moments from your journey. Digital cameras are constantly evolving and features that were once quite expensive, such as super zoom lenses, are now within reach of many consumers today. If your old camera doesn't have some of the following features, you may want to consider investing in a new one, even if the one you currently own still works fine. If you don't purchase a new camera, you may regret it later when you miss that special shot that a camera with more advanced features could have captured.Super Zoom LensesIf you are planning on taking pictures of wild animals or any other subject that you might not be able to get up close and personal with, you may want to consider purchasing a digital camera with an optical zoom capability higher than 5X. Nowadays, it is possible to pick up a reasonably priced digital camera that can optically zoom as much as 20 to 35 times.Waterproof Digital CamerasIf your road trip will be taking you to snorkeling hot spots, you should definitely consider getting a waterproof digital camera. Although you could pick up a cheap underwater instant camera, you won't get the quality images that a more expensive point-and-shoot digital camera can provide you.Even if you aren't planning on snorkeling, a waterproof digital camera can be useful for rafting or even just for general beach trip images.Wireless Photo SharingThis feature will allow you to share your photos directly from the camera. You will no longer need to download them first to a computer.
