The problem with the newer types is not where to get the thermocouple ( at any good hardware store or HD) - the real difficulty is fitting it, as most of the new types of gas water heater are made specifically to stop owners and handymen tinkering. Unlike the older style, you can no longer get at the thermocouple from the side. The tank has to be emptied, disconnected and laid on it's side to gain access through the base !

How do you replace thermocouple on Sears hot water heater?

Depends on the age of the heater. If you light the pilot with a match, you should be able to remove the thermocouple with the burner in place. The end that is in the flame will pull out of the clip that holds it. The control valve end unscrews. If you have a newer one that lights the pilot with a sparker, you have to remove the burner as a unit. There should be two screws holding the cover plate in place, the gas line to the burner, the thermocouple and the wire for the sparker. Disconnect all of these from the control valve and the unit slides out through the hole. Then change the thermocouple and replace.

How do you replace a thermalcoupler on water heater?

Older ones where you light the pilot through the access panel, the thermocouple pulls out of a clip at the pilot light and unscrews from the bottom of the control valve. Pull and twist it at the pilot to get it out of the clip. Newer ones with a spark igniter and sealed at the bottom, you are going to have to take the panel and the burner assembly out as a unit so that you can replace the thermocouple. Unscrew the pilot light gas supply tube and the thermocouple from the control valve, remove the screws holding the view plate on and the whole thing slides straight out the hole. Replace the thermocouple and re-assemble.

Home ac heater unit heat wont come on?

Could be lots of things. If you have a standing pilot light, one that stays on all the time, the thermocouple may be bad. A thermocouple is a small rod that sits in the flame of the pilot light. It then runs to the gas valve. This produces a small amount of electricity that keeps the valve open to let the gas in. If the pilot light goes out it shuts the valve so the house doesn't blow up. Easy enough to replace. If the pilot light is still on and the furnace will not light, it has to be the thermocouple. Check fuses at the furnace and in the panel. Newer gas furnaces have a circuit board in them that can go bad. There are a dozen things that could keep it from working, it is just a process of elination.

Why are my dash lights heater lights tail lights and my heater in a 2000 Pontiac sunfire not working?

This sounds like an issue with a fuse. In newer sunfires, if the Radio/ACC fuse blows, no indoor lights work and nothing will turn itself off when the car is off (meaning your daytime lights will stay on even with no key in the ignition). It's a 20w minifuse, walmart sells a pack for about $3.50.

How do you replace the heater core in a?

Most newer model cars the only way to replace a heater core is to completely remove the dash to access the heating system ducts as well as the core.

Where is the pressure switch on a hot tub?

Older style tubs have a pressure switch usually mounted directly on the heater manifold, or attached to the plumbing. The pressure switch is connected to the spa pack/circuit board with 2 wires and shuts the heater off if there is not enough pressure in the heater tube/manifold to protect the heater from becoming damaged or even exploding or causing a fire in a dry heater condition. Newer spas that use Balboa controls have sensors built right into the heater so a pressure switch is no longer needed as the safety function of monitoring the heater for constant water pressure is now all performed within the heater on newer quality spas.
