Where can you get a wiring diagram for a 1986 Honda VFR 700?

There are two possibilities here. One, go to any large Honda motorcycle dealership that has been in operation since your bike was manufactured. It is possible they have an owners or service manual that you can copy. Second, join a Honda Shadow owner's forum on the internet, some of the members will verly likely help you out.
The Honda Motor Company, any large dealership in motorcycles, will possibly help you to order this. I am not sure if it is totally free but it is not expensive either. Or they may allow you to copy their own repair and maintenance manual for the bike if they have it for a small sum of the cost of copying.
Honda GN4 10w-40w is what came in it originally and that or their new GN4 10w-30 is just fine. you do need a motorcycle specific oil JASO MA (high friction applications) certified -- do not run and oil with moly, friction modifiers, or energy-conserving as they can make you clutch start to slip...
