Buffing should put a shine on not take it away, use a very fine grit polishing compound to bring the shine back and wax regularly. I don't know what you used when you buffed it the first time but be careful and only buff wax in the future. Buffing and polishing is not the best thing for todays acrylic based automotive paints. With the removal of wax you have to do quite a bit of rubbing on a dry surface. that's not a good thing on an automotive paint finish. Polish is abrasive and it can do more harm than good. Liquid Paint conditioners work differently form wax. They last longer and shine better.
There are a couple of ways to go about removing wax from your car. 1. Wash the vehicle with a suitable wash such as P21s Total Auto Wash 2. Clay the vehicle with detailers clay* *This has been known not to completely remove tough waxes such as Collinite. 3. Use an AIO (all in one) cleaner Use an automotive safe wax & grease remover. Will remove the wax and not harm the clear or paint.
Hardware store. Jeweler's rouge, soft cloth, a little water to dampen the cloth, plus lots of patience and elbow grease. Or, you could also just fill them in with a good automotive WAX if their just surface scratches. I recommend turtle wax at any autozone... Tried it and works well...
