I find it quite amusing that you want detailed instructions with out providing any detailed information. Do you think all engines are the same? It is one thing being a cheapskate, but another being a lazy one.

Frankly, I won't waste my time. go buy a Chilton's Manual or visit Alldata.com for your job.

For the manifold see link below for detailed info on the class action settlement and detailed DIY instructions... http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm Is the intake cracked? Is it a 4.6L? If so, a recent class action settlement extends the warranty, on the intake, to 70,000 miles. Don't replace with OEM manifold.

The intake manifold is where the air and fuel mix and enter the engine. The exhaust manifold is where unspent gas and air exit the engine. In other words the intake manifold is where the engine breathes in and the exhaust manifold is how the engine exhales out.

What's under the intake is not a hose, it's a pipe which a hose attaches to behind the intake manifold near the firewall. If the hose is leaking, it's a relatively easy task to replace it. If the pipe is leaking, you will have to remove the intake manifold which is not an easy task (minimum 6 hours to remove and replace the manifold!)
