it depends on how they react to you. on your second or third day, put your hand in the cage with a piece of food and hold it out to your hamster. keep it in there for two or three mins and if he/she doesnt come to you, try it the next day. keep doing this until it sincerely trusts you to just hold it like a daily thing.
