Sam was in a phantom and some how fell into space : ( Read the book Halo: The Fall of Reach to learn more to what happened.
The Halo Reach Beta will include four maps. You can read about them here.
It can very from person to person. Personally I have read most of the books and have had the privilege to play all of the released games online. Halo CE Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo ODST Halo Reach Yes I am a halo geek, now join us!
There is no Sam in Halo 3.. I mean unless you are refering to a random Marine, there might be.. But what it sounds like you are thinking about Sam from the book, Halo: The Fall of Reach. Sam, in the book, is another Spartan. I would go more into detail but I don't want to post any spoilers. If you really want to know about Sam and who he was read Halo: The Fall of Reach..... Hope this helped

The Halo games should be played in the following order: Halo Wars; Halo: Reach; Halo: Combat Evolved; Halo 2; Halo 3; Halo 3: ODST. The books were written in the following order, although I am uncertain if they follow each other chronologically: Halo: The Fall of Reach (most likely coincides with Halo: Reach); Halo: The Flood (an adaptation of Halo: Combat Evolved); Halo: First Strike (set between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2); Halo: Ghosts of Onyx; Halo: Contact Harvest (possibly set before Halo: Reach); Halo: The Cole Protocol.
REACH is a prequel to the rest of the series, Master chief was their leader. Read the books
In campaign, no. This group of Spartans were all killed during training or by the covenant. To read the full story, find the book The Fall of Reach
The book "Halo:The Fall of Reach" has 352 pages, was written by Eric Nylund, and does not follow the adventures of Noble Team from the video game Halo:Reach. the book follows Mast Chief during the same time period and is arguably the most exciting and best written novel in the Halo franchise. It is a must read for any Halo fan.
