What hexactinellida can be found in the Cambrian?

Fossil evidence for the Hexactinellid class of sponge actually predates the Cambrian Period. Fossils of the genus Paleophragmodictya is the oldest fossil sponge currently known and was found in rocks dating back to the Ediacaran Period of the Neoproterozoic Era.It is thought that the Extinction events that occured in the early Cambrian effected the early sponges greatly but diversification of Haexactinellida after this brought many new forms. A species of Konyrium has been found in late Cambrian rocks. Many species were to evolve though out the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Era although hexactinellida would not see maximum diversity until the Cretaceous Period.

What happened in the Cambrian explosion?

The Cambrian explosion is supposedly a time in Earth's history about 570 million years ago when life evolved extremely quickly from single-celled organisms to complex plants and animals. There is a major problem with this theory, in that it is a cataclysmic event. Evolutionary theory avoids catastrophic explanations whenever possible (and only accepts them when they could be considered common), but this Cambrian explosion happening over a period of a couple million years is almost instantaneous compared to the 4.6 billion-year Darwinian model of evolution.Picture, if you will, the history of the Earth in a 24-hour day: the first few hours show no signs of life; but at about the fifth hour, you start to see single-celled organisms floating around; this life stays like that for sixteen hours until the twenty-first hour, when all of a sudden, you see complex and diverse life come into being in a span of less than two minutes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUC9drrEAVU&feature=relatedThis theory is only a feeble attempt to explain how there seems to be no fossil evidence of the creatures between single cells and complex vertebrates and plant life; in fact, this explanation is even more miraculous than the Creation account, because where Creation states that an Intelligent Designer made everything from nothing, evolution claims that chance played the leading role in causing everything to grow from nothing to everything. If you'll notice, the cause and effect of both Creation and Evolution are the same (everything from nothing), but the difference is chance and intelligence. There are two possibilities: either we are a product of random chance and quantum fluctuations billions of years ago, and thus have no purpose; or we are a product of supreme intelligence, and should find our purpose through seeking this intelligence and doing His will (Psalm 27:4).

Did corals exist 500 million years ago?

== == There is evidence that coral first appeared during the early Cambrian period(which began about 542 million years ago). This evidence is very scarce so far and it is believed that it was not until the Ordovician Period (which began when the Cambrian period ended, about 488 million years ago) that "...mineralized corals became important parts of marine ecosystems.1"For a history of ancient coral and other early marine life, see:Anthozoa: Fossil Recordhttp://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/cnidaria/anthozoafr.htmlFor an interesting article on some specific types of ancient corals, see: Margaret Fuller, Richard Jenkins, Reef Corals From The Lower Cambrian Of The Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Palaeontology Volume 50 Issue 4 Page 961-980, July 2007.1Anthozoa: Fossil Recordhttp://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/cnidaria/anthozoafr.html
