they are pretty rare, you would be doing well if you purchased one for under £100....
Not too sure I'd class them as rare ... they were a mass produced reel, made from 1968 until 1975 .. more than 270, 000 of them!

They can usually be picked up very easily via eBay etc. You MAY pay well for a mint, unused, boxed reel, though this would still be under £100 .. typically a model in good condition will sell for £30 - £50 depending on quality: a collector (rather than an angler) may pay more for something that is pristine.
The online fishing store at Mitchell Reels Museum sells Mitchel fishing reel that you can purchase and they are very expensive. You maybe able to find them at a lower price at places Ebay and Amazon as well.

It's possible but the reel and rod are not made to handle the stresses that monofilament fishing line will put on the gear. The drags on a fly fishing reel are not as robust as a conventional reel.
