7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Footnotes: Genesis 2:7 The Hebrew for man (adam) sounds like and may be related to the Hebrew for ground ( adamah it is also the name Adam (see Gen. 2:20).
Adam was from the dust of the earth, while Eve was made from Adams rib.
God created the earth in six days (I don't know if they were actually days or if they were symbolic for different periods of time) and on the sixth day, after he created the earth and the animals, he took dust and made it into the first man, Adam. I'm sorry for the long sentence. After he made Adam, God realized that Adam needed company other than animals. He put Adam into a deep sleep and took out one of his(Adam's) ribs and made it into a woman who was later named Eve, which means "from man". This is how Adam and Eve were created, according to The Bible.
It seems that in the second creation story of Genesis, there was a limit to God's powers in that he could not make living things out of nothing. In Genesis 2:7, God created Adam out of the dust of the ground, then creating each animal out of the same dust. In verse 2:21-22, God created Eve out of a rib taken from Adam.
