Amelia Earhart disappeared in the Pacific Ocean, while on the way to Howland Island. Her plane mysteriously vanished during her 1937 attempt to fly around the world. To this day, despite many theories, neither she nor her navigator (Fred Noonan) nor their plane have ever been found.
