Islam arose in Mecca and Medina in Arabia in approximately 610ce.
As with all religions, problems arise from its many different interpretations and peoples opinions of what the religions is about.
From the time of prophet Muhammed (S.A.W), obviously I cannot be 100% sure this is fact as I was not there at the time, but from what i understand, the Jews were completely against Islam in that they believed that the last prophet would arise from amongst their people and refused to accept that he was Muslim.
