No. He hit modern day America and went south around South America, then over to Australia.
He went through the waterway currently known as The Straight of Magellan at the south coast of Argentina.
The term America is traditionally used to mean the United States or at least North America. By this definition Ferdinand Magellan did not come to America. He did come by South America and his purpose was to find a westward route from Spain to Asia.
Ferdinand Magellan's ship crew were the first to sail all the way around around the world. Ferdinand himself died before the voyage was completed.
Ferdinand Magellan's slave, Enrique. Enrique was brought to Europe from the Philippines and became Magellan's slave. he went on the voyage around the world with them, and when Magellan died in the Philippines after going around South America, Enrique jumped ship and swam to an island in the Philippines, roughly the same place he lived before he was a slave. However, people think that Magellan was the first, even though he died before they made it, because he led the voyage.
He went by South America to across Pacific Ocen to the Philipines and died their, but the rest of the crew that survived went around the Cape of Good Hope, Afrinext then tthey went back to Europe where they started out. When something goes completely around the world that is called circumnavigate(tion). Hope this helps! :)
He went around the world.
he went to the first voyage around the world
he went because of the spice
He never was in South America
From Spain, Magellan went west. He did not finish his journey because he died in the Philippines.
Magellan didn't make it the whole way himself, but his ships sailed down the east coast of South America and through the Strait of Magellan (named after him), through the Pacific, the Marianas and Guam, and on to the Philippines, which is where Magellan died. Elcano, in the only ship that survived the entire voyage, traded in the Spice Islands (Maluku), went through the Indian ocean, came around the cape of Good Hope, and then west and north back to Spain. The ship that tried to go back through the Pacific route was captured and wrecked.
