The book and film Four Hours in My Lai were the result of extensive research in the United States and Vietnam which included the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the Centre for Military History, The Pentagon Library and many many interviews in both countries. The most important documents regarding My Lai are the four volumes that make up the report of The Peers Commission - an inquiry into the massacre conducted by Lt. Gen. William R. Peers. He took evidence from some 400 witnesses and the transcripts of these are available online at the Library of Congress
