Nathanael Greene served under General George Washington in the revolutionary war. He was the commander of the right wing in the Battle of Trenton in December 1776
George Washington, Nathanael Greene, and Horatio Gates were all chosen as leaders by the colonist to go to war against England. The American Revolutionary War lasted from April 19, 1775 until April 11, 1783.
It was important because Nathanael Greene attacked Cornwallis and led him in a cat and mouse game. After that battle the battle of Yorktown was in play and Cornwallis Surrendered to the Patriots. So basically Because of Greene leading Cornwallis in a trap is why they won the war.
