No. Halo Wars was set far before the happenings of Halo 1, which had the Master Chief in it. Sargent Forge (Also not sharing the same name with the Chief) was killed at the End of Halo Wars, and could not have lived on to take part in the happenings of Halo 1.

that is correct he is not dead he has gone into a cryogenic freezing chamber similar to the one he wakes from in halo CE. but he might never be found....also if you watch on legendary you get a little bit more i update: he is not dead i beat it on legendary and i heard that at the end of odst u find him thus the relese of halo 4 from gearbox lol dont be suprised if master chief has a chain saw gun
