Metal classic rock (Classic Metal and Metal) mainly started with the band Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne, born Michael (was it Michael??) Osbourne the lead singer, was kicked out of the band because of his drug abuse and was replaced with Ronnie James Dio (Born Ronnie James Padovana, and the best singer ever!!). Ozzy Osbourne lead a solo career and after Black Sabbath, RJD made his own band, Dio. So these three groups all had music that was the start of Metal.
In my opinion I would say from British Blues and Jazz in the '60s. Teenage Brits would go to these concerts and fall in love with blues. Mostly late teenage men would go out and learn how to play harmonica, guitar, bass, drums, piano, and how to really use their vocals. Eventually, these teenagers would start forming bands and play blues like their idols. The one difference was that all these kids were white and they were playing black blues and jazz. The outcome were white kids playing black blues poorly, which came out as pop art music. These bands were made up of 18 year old kids cutting their hair short, that used pop art symbols. The pop art was made up of targets, mouths, odd letters, and lots of different variations of the Union Jack. They were the first mod bands. Bands like The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Cheap Trick, The Kinks, etc. formed in this decade. These bands flourished and got so famous for their music that they could do anything they pleased. This is when the next generation of the late '60s and '70s rock came in or classic rock. Bands started trying new things in rock, like odd guitar, rock operas scratchy vocals, amazing screams, synthesizers, 17 minute songs, and songs about whatever you pleased came in. These rockers were doing things that had never been done before in music history. Some of these bands were made up of musicians who had left there bands in the late '60s, like Cream or Led Zeppelin. Some were bands that had been big in the '60s and got bigger in the '70s, like The Who and The Rolling Stones. The others were made up of rockers who grew up in that '60s generation and wanted to be like their idols, like Boston and Aerosmith. These bands that were big in the '70s really did things that still remain amazing music wise. When the late '70s came bands like Van Halen formed who would be an '80s rock bands. And this is what I consider the end of the classic rock era.
