In 1857 a French inventor named Edourd-Leon Scott de Martinville patented the first known devise, which he call phonautograph, which could transcribe sound by drawing a hog bristle over blackened glass. Unfortunately, his invention didn't include a means to play back the sound. In 1878, Thomas Edison patented his phonograph, originally designed to impress the sound waves into tin foil but changed to wax cylinders for commercial recordings. The first playable recording is said to be of Edison reciting "Mary Had a Little Lamb". The Edison Speaking Phonograph Company was established that same the same year. In addition to being an inventor, Edison was a talented promoter and his talent for promotion made his gramophone the most popular player of recorded music. Between the two mentioned patents, a number of inventors worked on similar devices but Edison was the one who prevailed. The Grammy Award is a replica of Edison's most popular phonograph and the name "Grammy" was named for it.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 and he died in 1791. Recorded music did not begin until the 1880's.

In music, the lyrics and music can be registered separately or together, and sound recordings have their own rights.
It is impossible to know. In audio recordings, you can imagine that the first tests would have been thrown out pending improvement. Also note, "Recording" in music refers to not only audio recordings, but notational recordings (eg: sheet music) and piano rolls. In early notated music, the first written music would have disintegrated by now.
Digital recordings do not have the hiss, crackling, or other artifacts of older systems like the vinyl record or cassette tape. Digital recordings do not degrade as quickly as analog recordings. There is still some debate about whether digital recordings sound better than analog vinyl records, however.
Old Beatle recordings can be found in music stores. People can also buy records of Beatle songs. Music from the Beatles is also available to the public on Itunes.
