The American first fired upon the British at the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775. It was a small battle and the Americans inflicted no serious casualties on the British. The British scattered the Americans and marched on to Concord, where they were attacked by a stronger American force.
The battle of Concord was the first that the Americans won against the British. This was also where the "shot heard 'round the world" was immortalized by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The British had come to Concord after the initial battle at Lexington, and were defeated by thousands of militiamen who descended upon them.
The assault was upon the American Forces, the British losses were in containing the attack and upon the counter attack. There were many fewer British soldiers involved than there were Americans.
No ones knows. Lost to history.

The first thing to do upon discovering a fire is to yell, "Fire" and make sure that all those near by know there is a fire. This is part of what is called "sounding the alarm." the other part is to call the fire in to security or the first department, depending on the process that as been established in your workplace. After that, you may consider whether you are able to put it out, or whether the appropriate action is to get to a safe place and let the fire specialists deal with it.
