Most scientists don't believe that there is any monster in Loch Ness but those people who do believe in 'Nessie' generally seem to think that it is some sort of aquatic dinosaur but if that is so what it is doing in Loch Ness, which was buried under ice during the last Ice Age, or how it got there, nobody has even been able to satisfactoraliy explain.

∙ 14y agoThere are a few possible answers. It is possible that there really is a monster living in Loch Ness and the 'myth' is based on genuine sightings of the beast. There is also the possibilty that the entire myth was cynically invented to attract tourists (and their money) to the area. There is also the possibility that people simply want a little mystery in their lives and some genuine sightings of wild animals and weather phenomenon have just been misinterpreted and the myth is simply the result of mistakes and wishful thinking .

∙ 14y agoPeople who believe in it would tel you that it started with a real sighting of an unknown creature in the loch. More cynical people would tell you that the entire thing was dreamed up as a tourist attraction.
