Other than some writer's books or television shows, people will never totally know all the places US troops were deployed, including Latin America. Look up the word "covert" in the dictionary. Those were 90% to 100% covert operations. If anyone "knew" where US troops were deployed, then they would'nt have been covert operations.
Post covert ops can be imagined, written, and committed to Hollywood anytime and anywhere; but they'll always be just that...entertainment (like the Military/History Channel, all entertainment, with often inaccurate information). It is known however, that Castro's Lieutenant Che was gunned down in Latin America, as his mission was to start "another Vietnam" in those countries. US forces were responsible for his termination.
