If you are talking about the United States, most of the Civil War occurred south of the Mason Dixon Line (the southern border of Pennsylvania), the Ohio River, and the Missouri River. A major battle occurred in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A few scattered battles occurred as far north as Vermont. An attempt was made to burn down New York City. The westernmost battle occurred in Arizona. As the Civil War continued, it mainly stayed in Virginia in the north east part of the South. It came down the Mississippi River. Then it started moving east from there and South from the north west of the Mississippi. Thus, the war ended coming at Virginia from two directions, North and South.

Texas stood unconquered. The Confederate army there just packed up and went home.
