it never did. Only two planes hit the WTC.
Boston Logan International Airport. They were scheduled to land in Los Angeles and San Francsico later that day.
Planes
2 planes hit the North and South towers of the WTC and one "plane" hit the pentagon. There was a fourth plane but it "crashed" in a Pennsylvania field. This happened in NY!
Eight children ranging in age from 2 to 11 years old died in the 9/11 attacks. All of them were passengers on two of the hijacked planes (five of them were on Flight 77 which hit the Pentagon, the other three were on Flight 175 which hit the south tower of the WTC).
On Sept. 11, 2001, WTC 1 and WTC 2 were struck 16 minutes apart by Boeing 767-200ER aircraft. WTC 1 was hit at 8:46 a.m. by American Airlines Flight 11, and collapsed at 10:28 a.m. WTC 2 was hit at 9:02 a.m. by United Airlines Flight 175, and collapsed at 9:58 a.m. See the NIST government website for more information.
Because it will cost to much money and you might as well put a big red target on it and say come hit me again it would be great to have them back but then terrorists would keep trying to hijack planes.
Over 500
The northern WTC tower, then southern WTC tower, then Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed when the patriots inside killed the terrorists but couldn't fly the plane.
Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers. American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower at 8:46 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower at 9:03.Another plane, American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon at 9:37.A final plane, United Airlines Flight 93 ploughed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after the passengers stormed the cockpit.
The cause of three of the four planes that crashed in the 911 terrorist attacks crashed because they were deliberately flown in the WTC Tower buildings and the Pentagon. The fourth plane that crashed in Shanksville, PA was believed to have been brought down before it reached its intended target by the actions of the passengers attacking the terrorists that were in control of the plane.
