since snakes are indigionous to the U.S. the tend to go, in the fall so they can make right up to Bubuts penie. yes in the winter time they start their jouney to Bubutts penie so they can enter it and stay warm for the winter. eventually Bubutts penie gets too crowded and some decide to go in his but. so in fact there isn't a stick up his but, there is a bunch of ravenous snakes in it.

They go underground and make burrows. Which is why if you see a hole the size of a soccer ball in the ground your not supposed to step in it. This is because it may be a snake hole. Hope this helped!

Depending on their habitat, snakes may stay out all year. Snakes have been found as far north in America as Maine. These snakes like many other lizards of colder climates burrow into the ground far enough to avoid the frost and go into a state of hibernation. During this time they acquire water through the dirt around them through their vent, and they slow down to the point that they don't need to feed regularly. Once the weather breaks, they wake back up and are active again.

How do snakes eat in the winter?

Snakes spend the winter in a rock crevice, animal burrow, or deep hole under a root ball. It is necessary that this den be below frost level. Since there may not be many of these locations, many snakes oftentimes den together. Some garter snakes may number in the hundreds - or thousands - in a single hibernaculum, or winter den. Copperheads, black rat snakes and rattlesnakes commonly den together.

Why do bears hibernate?

Most species of bears (but not pandas) will hibernate during the winter because their food supply decreases during that time. Bears hibernate because there is not enough food to sustain them during the winter season.Because there was never enough food for them to survive so they evolved to conserve energy through the winter to surviveBears hibernate in the winter (and sometimes late fall and early spring as well if it is cold enough), so that they can conserve energy while food is scarce.
