Dolphins are killed in a number of ways. Disease, predators, etc. But more often than not, they are killed by the actions of humans. They get trapped in fishing nets or slaughtered in some places.
Dolphins are dying more frequently than ever before because our own human activity. Some get caught in a fishnet or some are killed because of pollution from what we dispose. One species of dolphins will definitely become extinct because of Gill net fishing, for over 25 years they have fished in the area to kill tuna but dolphins always ended up in the nets. How that works is that us as humans need/want to fish for tuna and other marine animals but, so do the dolphin to keep them from being extinct we need to let them eat. While they are hunting for fish they see giant loads of fish in one area, so they go for it and however get caught too and are either slaughtered and put back in the ocean or if there is enough time just put back in their home, after that all fishers can say is "it was an accident the dolphins weren't the target". We are about to wipe out the entire populations of these wonderful creatures and it's mostly our mistakes. On some tuna cans it says "Dolphin Safe" because most people probably won't want to eat tuna with dolphin meat in it. Other people around the world are killing dolphins day by day sometimes even just for their own entertainment.

Dolphins live in the sea water, but do not drink it. The ocean water is too salty for the dolphins system to handle.

Drought is one of the main disasters that can effect or harm a dolphin because if there was no water the dolphins would die of thirst and hunger because fish needs water to survive too :)
