There is no dip stick on a 3 speed "tree" trans. Trans fluid is added by removing the screw on top of trans casing underneath the vehichle.
Yes, that is a very bad idea. The brake fluid will damage the trans seals, and it will start to leak.
There is no trans filter on the Accord. You drain the fluid just like you would your motor oil. Only about 1/3 of the total capacity will drain. Be sure to add only the amount that was drained and use Honda fluid only.
Clutch fluid comes out of the same reservoir as brake fluid. So...go buy a little bottle of DOT 4 fluid (for the love of all that is good DO NOT PUT DOT 3 IN A SAAB!) and pour it in.
that's the stuff you need!
There is no transmission filter on the Saab 9-5 Automatic. It is recommended to do 3 separate fluid changes at about 1 week intervals to change out most of the old fluid with new.
if you can see the drain bolt on the bottom of trans, the check or add bolt is vertical about 3 inches up on the right side of the trans housing
Dextron 3 with mercon....
changed from green to red top in 1999
If it is an automatic, through the dipstick tube. If it is a manual trans there will be two plugs, one very low on the trans and the other about 3/4 up the trans, the upper plug serves as a fill hole and fill guage, put the proper fluid in until it just starts to come out the plug hole. Reinstall the plug, snuggly and you are done!
dexron 3 is good.
