The wheel jack is behind the removable plastic panel in the drivers side rear by the liftgate ( also , if your Explorer has air suspension there is a rocker switch in the compartment to shut off the air compressor before any wheels are lifted off the ground )
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : The vehicle jack is supposed to be behind the removable plastic panel , on the drivers side of the cargo area , near the liftgate
Under the axle tube directly below the leaf springs ( factory jack used with Explorer )
In the Jack compartment on a 1996
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : On the front of the lower control arms you will see a hook ( or bar ) The factory jack is put there to change a front tire
You will need a flashlight to see it. Look in the back where the jack is stored and there will be a computer box with the code on it. The jack is located in the back on the driver's side. I think there were 4 tabs to move so you could slide the panel off. I have a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT V8.
under the car
The tire jack is supposed to be under the carpeted lid in the floor of the cargo area along with a bag including the tools on a 2008 Ford Explorer
It is located on the computer module. To get to it is is in the jack storage compartment, and it is located toward the front of the vehicle. There is a white label on one side and thats where the code is printed.
It should be the same as my 1995 Ford Explorer , there is a " hook " on the front of both lower control arms
The RAP module is in the cargo area , on the drivers side , behind the removable plastic panel where the wheel jack is stored
On a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport : The wheel jack is in the cargo area , on the drivers side , behind a removable plastic panel ( the lug nut wrench is also stored there )
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : On the lower control arms on both sides of the vehicle you will see what looks like a hook ( or bar ) on the front side of the lower control arms The factory jack is placed there in order to change a front tire
