Tigers footpads, for example, burn on heated rock, whereas those of the leopard do not. Tigers simply have not become completely acclimated to the warm climates where five of the six subspecies live. Therefore, in order to live, tigers have adapted to a love of water, spending much time there. They are great swimmers, one tiger swam a half mile to a ship docked at sea!
