Mostly in zoos and special sanctuaries around the world but small herds have been reintroduced back into the wild in Mongolia which is their native country. Thirty years ago there were only 12 pure-breds left alive in the world! Careful and selective breeding has managed to increase those numbers to their current estimated number of around 1500.
