Where do the cannons go in new Super Mario Bros wii?

Go on world one level three. At the part with the fake wall (that doesnt lead to the pipes). Use the Yoshi (or propeler cap or mini mushroom) to jump over the fake wall. Run and go through the invisible pipe.

It takes you to world 5, which is pretty useless if you have the world 1 cannon, or if you've beaten world 4.

The cannon can lead to any world. For example, the cannon in world 1 and 2 lead to world five. But the cannon in world 5 and 6 lead to world 8. The cannon in world 3 leads to world 6.
