MAF or Mass Airflow cleaners are used to cleane car engine parts which play an effective role in providing you with a good MPG (miles per Gallon). You can buy MAF cleaners from leading superstore chains, such as Wallmart.
Yes. Most parts stores carry MAF Cleaner in a spray can. If your MAF is grimey, it can cause your engine to run rough, hesitate, etc... MAF Cleaner will help a lot. Just be careful handling the MAF, it's a delicate part.
MAF sensors are generally near the air cleaner box.
First item to check is the MAF sensor. Buy cleaner from NAPA like CRC MAF cleaner. Follow the directions to clean the sensor.
It is on the air cleaner lid.It is on the air cleaner lid.
I had the same problem last summer. Checked out everything and no cause. Put in a new MAF sensor and the van runs perfect. I got the maf sensor from a junk yard because new ones are about $100. Try cleaning your maf sensor with maf cleaner, do not use any other cleaner but maf cleaner. If that does not work go to the junk yard. Maf sensor is located in the front where you open the hood. It is part of the air intake system.
Removal & Installation (4.6L & 5.4L) 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Release the air cleaner clamp and separate the air cleaner halves. 3. Remove the grommet from the air cleaner housing and slide the grommet down the hardness. 4. Remove the (MAF) sensor plate and (MAF) sensor from the air cleaner. 5. Detach the (MAF) sensor from the harness. 6. Remove the retaining nuts and remove the (MAF) sensor. 7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
The Maf is located on the outside of your air cleaner box (it is actually held on by a hose clamp about a 4" diameter)
Clean the MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner.
It is in the right half of the engine air cleaner.
If the check engine light is or has illuminated we need to know the code(s). The ignition module is one possibility. The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is another. Try cleaning the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner. Use Only MAF sensor cleaner and follow the directions on the can.
