On my 2009, the oil dipstick is on the frame just ahead of the fuel tank. It's a dry sump system, so the oil resorvoir is in the frame. Mine is checked after letting the motor warm up sufficiently, and immediately after shutting down the motor. Otherwise, the oil will drain back down and you'll get a low reading.

The oil filter is on the right side (as you sit on it) of the engine. There is an access plate with three screws holding it in place.

To check most transmissions on Honda motor cycles you check engine oil. They have a liquid clutch that are in the crank case oil.
A good quality 10w40 oil is good. Check with your local Honda dealer.
