Should be a plug at the side of the transmission- fill to this level
where is the transmission fill on the mercury tracer
On the radiator.
If you drained the pan, it will take about 4-4 1/2 qts to fill it. If you drained the whole transmission it will take more like 8 or 9.
From the transmission fluid level dip stick. Remove the stick, use a funnel (the tube is very small, about 1/2 inch diameter), fill in the ATF
The same place where you check it, there is a tube that comes up in the right center behind and to the left of the coolant reservoir. It has a small black ball on top. That is your transmission fluid dipstick. It is, unfortunately, not marked in any way. Pull that out and if you need to add fluid put a funnel in that tube and do so.
On a 2000 Mercury Villager : The washer fluid for the rear liftgate is supplied by the same reservoir as the windshield ( located in the engine compartment )
Because gas fumes are coming out and you're smelling them.
The 1995 Mercury Sable has two different available transmissions. The fill capacities depend on the transmission type. Transmission code AX4S has a specified fill of 12.3-quarts(qts). The AX4N fill is 13.5-qts.
Auto: fill through dipstick tube Std. Plug at side of transmission - fill to this level
They have a sealed transmission you dont have to fill it. The fluid should be changed around 100,000 and it has to be done by a dealer.
You should put in enough to fill it up. If you've drained the pan it takes approx. 4 1/2 quarts to refill. If you've drained the whole transmission somehow, it'll take about 9 quarts. Fill it a little at a time to make sure you don't overfill it, as that is not good for it.
