Any 1942, 1943 or 1944 Australian Threepence, will have the "S" (San Francisco) or "D" (Denver) mintmark on the reverse of the coin, on the right hand side, just below the fourth digit of the year.
Any coins minted in Melbourne will have no mintmark.

What does a 1955 Australian Threepence look like?
The Australian 1955 Threepence looks the same as all Australian Threepences minted from 1953 to 1964 inclusive. From 1947 to 1964, their composition was 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% zinc and 5% nickel. They had a plain edge, weighed 1.41 grams and were 16 mm in diameter. The Australian 1955 Threepence has Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, and the reverse design shows three stalks of wheat with the year split either side of the stalks, AUSTRALIA across the top and THREEPENCE across the bottom. Pictures of a specific coin are difficult to come by. Frequently you should be able to find one on eBay, but the picture is withdrawn after the coin is sold.

Florins minted in Melbourne during this period have no mintmark.

Mintmarks, if they are used at all on Australian decimal coins, constitute minor alterations to parts of the animal on the reverse design. Sometimes the mintmarks are huge and easily spotted (such as the 1942-1945 war nickels) or tiny and in an obscure place such as the mintmarks on most Walking Liberty half dollars.

It would depend on the Florin of which country you refer to. The Florins of most British Empire countries were minted at only one mint in 1944, therefore a mintmark was not used. The 1944 Australian Florin was minted both at the Melbourne Mint and the San Francisco Mint. Those minted at the Melbourne Mint have no mintmark. Those minted at the San Francisco Mint have a small "S" above the date and below the Coat of Arms.
