You can get a speedometer cable for your 1990 Toyota pickup truck at most auto-parts stores. Many Toyota dealerships have auto part departments open to the public.
I want to replace the non-working speedometer cable on my 90 subaru legacy are there any free graphics and instructions to show me how to do it and what it looks like and where it is?
Yes, but only if they are both the same configuration, i.e. both 4 cylinder or both V6
90 weight gear oil.
I had a similar problem on my old 90 Nissan pathfinder and it ended up been a Speedometer cable that broke.
You need to remove the speedometer sending unit from the transmission - this hole is the hole you put new fluid in. Trace where the speedometer cable (mechanical cable, not electrical) is going, it starts on the firewall behind the dash cluster.
89 Speedo cableI just paid for a lower speedometer cable. The sensor began in '90. The part price was 35.78 plus shipping. It also has a sensor that sits on top of the transmission case. I'm ordering one from hondapartscheap.com today! To better answer the question, an 89 prelude has both. The speedometer cable attaches to the speed sensor.
replace the speedometer cable only
It really depends upon the type of car (year, brand, model, etc.). I had the same issue on a 90 Honda Accord. This particular car had a sending unit on the transaxle (transmission) that failed. The connection from the sending unit to the speedometer is electrical. I replaced the sending unit and all was well. Other cars have a cable that connects from the transmission to the speedometer. If you have this type of car, the problem could be the cable, the gear at the end of the cable that runs off of the transmission or the speedometer itself. More information is needed to provide further details. What type of car do you have? Do you have a manual?
If you can do it yourself around 90 dollars and about 3-4 hrs If you have a mechanis it will run roughly around 300.00
no
Bought a used '90 Probe; a dealer repair involved adding transmission oil through the fitting that houses the speedometer cable. On the '90, that was seized; a replacement part was available only from Mazda. (The '90 has a Mazda 5 speed manual transmission.)
You can find a speedometer for a 1990 Ford Probe online at places like Ebay or Amazon. You can also find this speedometer at Rock Auto on the Internet.
